November 16, 2013

To my daughter Lizette Aira,

I distinctly remember the day when I learned that I became pregnant for the second time after an unexpected miscarriage. Such good news brought me and my husband happiness beyond compare. To have experienced the joy of conceiving is indeed remarkable and bringing another life to the world is truly a miracle. I’ve witnessed how God perfectly molded His divine creation.

It was the 12th of November 1995, the day when God blessed me with a gift of motherhood. It’s the same day when my husband and I received a precious jewel that binds our marriage up to this moment.  1:14 in the afternoon when I gave birth to an adorable cute baby girl. It was you, our firstborn… our only daughter.

Few days before my scheduled delivery, I saw your face in my dream and it was so clear in my mind how you looked like. When I first gazed upon your face, it was the same smile I saw. We had that unique bond that somehow made our senses connected even if you’re still inside my womb. As I took you in my arms, I felt the warmth of your fragile body. It was amazing! I could hardly believe that I have a child of my own flesh and blood.  I loved your tiny fingers.. cheeky face.. your flashing little eyes and your soft pinkish feet. You’re an angel from heaven who filled our hearts with so much pleasure and bliss.

I knew then as I know now, how worthwhile and significant my life would be.

Time passes so quickly as memories pile up. Some are long forgotten but still many are etched deeply in our hearts and mind. Your childhood days are now over and you will face another journey. As you travel along life’s road, just keep in mind that life is boring and meaningless without challenges. These trials will strengthen your faith and reinforce your capabilities.

Now that you’re eighteen, I pray that God will continue to shower you His gift of abundance and grace and bestow upon you the wisdom to make right decisions. Remember that not all good choices will lead to the easiest outcome. May our Good Lord guide your plans and order your steps.

There’s more to life than waking up in the morning and taking a good sleep at night. You will enter a wider door of the real world and its windows are open for unlimited opportunities. Dream big and take chances in your life but don’t forget to aim for the highest peak that will bring you true happiness and fulfillment. Genuine success comes from a joyful heart.

In behalf of your PAPA, your younger brothers; KD and KIKO, I want to greet you a warmest Happy Birthday. We love you and always put that unique smile on your face.

Your loving mother,

I can’t thank you enough, Ms Tere. You made my daughter’s Debut Party more remarkable. You’re not only a superb writer but a very effective reader as well.

Every mother may share the same sentiments as I have with my debutante.

“A mother’s unconditional love for her child is more than what this letter can ever express.”
